BIC new Advanced Assembly facility offers a large dedicated area for final assembly of full integrated sheet metal products.
Assembly of metal components manufactured by BIC, often with additional proprietary parts, is a core competency of the business. The dedicated advanced assembly area and highly trained operators allow BIC to undertake a range of assembly functions to provide fully customised sheet metal fabrications and assemblies. Tasks include fitting component parts including fastenings, castors, hinges, inserts and other modules, such as electrical fit-out.
Finishing touches such as silk screen printing and product brand labelling are undertaken so that BIC supplies the finished metal product complete. Metal products are packaged to customers' requirements ready for delivery to end users. This service allows customers to outsource some of their assembly work, allowing them to free-up space and resources to focus on their core business.
On more complex jobs specific "standard operations" are generated by the quality team. In some instances these fully documented standardised work methods are prepared in partnership with the customer. Standard operations are now readily available in the assembly factory via touch screens located at various work stations along the assembly lines. The operator can access any standard operation via the screen and any changes in the procedure can be updated.
